What happens when a Nobel Prize winner and the president of RIKEN, Prof. Dr. Ryōji Noyori, president of the Max Planck Society, Prof. Dr. Peter Gruss and several RIKEN and Max Planck Institute Directors, Prof. Dr. Peter Seeberger, Prof. Dr. Hiroyuki Osada and Prof. Dr. Naoyuki Taniguchi meet in Japan to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Max Planck and RIKEN cooperation? Max Planck Society and RIKEN are entangled since their beginnings in 1911. and 1917. respectively, but the official institutional cooperation is based on the memorandum of understanding from 1984. The latest common endeavour of the two research giants is the RIKEN Max Planck Joint Research Center for Systems Chemical Biology established in Tokyo in 2011.
Some 150 people joined the celebration conducted by top-notch scientists, high ranked diplomats and business elite.
