BMS welcomes a Capes-Fulbright fellow! Born in Rio de Jeneiro and raised in Minas Gerais, Brazil, Marilda P. Lisboa received her M. Sc. degree in pharmaceutical sciences in 2007 from the Federal University of Minas Gerais. In 2008, she was awarded a Capes-Fulbright fellowship to pursue her PhD in Organic Chemistry at Florida State University under the direction of Professor Gregory B. Dudley. After gaining expertise in the synthesis of natural products using fragmentation methodology she joined BMS´ Vaccine Group as a post-doctoral fellow in 2013. We are looking forward to her next scientific achievement!
Dr. Dmitry Ushakov joined the Department of Biomolecular Systems in July 2013. He will be working on oxidation processes in the Microreactor Group known for developing shortcuts for chemical synthesis of medicines and other biologically important molecules. Born in Russia, St. Petersburg, in 1987. Dr. Ushakov finished his diploma studies at St. Petersburg State University, then went west to continue his education at the University of Tübingen in the group of Prof. M. E. Maier. His long-time focus is synthesis of natural products. добро пожаловать!
We are happy to announce that one of our own, Stephanie Zimmermann, received a fellowship by the IMPRS on Multiscale Bio-Systems for pursuing her PhD research! She will be working on a project on carbohydrate/lectin interactions and lectin targeting in the Glycoimmunology Group where she previously concluded the research for her M.Sc. thesis. Congratulations!
